A New Spirit: Himba Raya Foundation Kicks Off 2026 with a Bold Vision for the Environment

Palangka Raya, January 10, 2026 – Marking the start of a year dedicated to environmental restoration, Himba Raya Foundation (Hirai) officially launched its 2026 Kick-Off event. Held in Central Kalimantan, this gathering served as a crucial momentum to align visions and build collective awareness in the face of increasingly complex environmental challenges.
More than just an opening ceremony, this Kick-Off represents the starting point for a series of strategic actions designed to create a long-term impact on the rainforest ecosystems of Kalimantan—the lungs of the world.
Cross-Sector Collaboration: The Key to Sustainability
From the start, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants from diverse backgrounds gathered under one mission. Volunteers, local communities, government officials, and professionals joined forces, proving that environmental issues are no longer the responsibility of a few, but a shared priority for all.
Hirai believes that the vast and complex scale of environmental degradation can only be addressed through radical collaboration.
“We are opening our doors wide for individuals and organizations to collaborate with us, especially for our flagship event of the year: the Hirai Youth Camp 2026, scheduled for July 12 – 18, 2026.”
Hirai’s 2026 Strategic Roadmap
During the presentation session, the foundation unveiled its strategic plan for the year, focusing on three core pillars:
- Sustainable Forest Conservation: Utilizing data-driven approaches and mapping to ensure every intervention is targeted and effective.
- Community Education: Building environmental literacy from the grassroots level to empower local guardians.
- Structured Reforestation: Moving beyond “ceremonial planting” toward a model that includes rigorous long-term monitoring and evaluation.
A Data-Driven Approach
A highlight of the session was the emphasis on research. Hirai stressed that every step taken must be backed by clear mapping and scientific data. This ensures that tree-planting programs and conservation efforts yield measurable, real-world impacts rather than just symbolic gestures.
From Dialogue to Field Solutions
The event featured interactive sharing sessions where participants discussed the harsh realities on the ground—ranging from deforestation and forest fires to the lack of environmental education in remote areas.
These discussions were not just for sharing grievances; they served as an incubator for solutions. Participants were encouraged to contribute their perspectives, ensuring that the strategies developed are applicable to the unique challenges of their respective regions.
Small Steps, Global Impact
Hirai also highlighted the vital role of the individual. Conservation does not always require one to be deep in the jungle. Change starts with daily habits:
- Reducing single-use plastics.
- Supporting eco-friendly products.
- Spreading environmental awareness within personal circles.
Every small action is an integral part of a larger conservation puzzle.
Towards a Global Movement
This Kick-Off is just the beginning of a long journey. With a structured roadmap and effective two-way communication, Hirai is optimistic that this local initiative will evolve into a national—and eventually global—movement.
Through collaboration, commitment, and growing awareness, we are taking concrete steps to safeguard the Earth for generations to come. Let’s move forward with Hirai.
